Free educational resources and lifelong learning for the community
An-Najah National University provides free access to educational resources for people who are not studying at the University, supporting lifelong learning, equitable access to knowledge and community development.
Through public digital platforms, university libraries, recorded lectures, free online courses with certificates and selected campus facilities, the University extends learning opportunities beyond formal enrolment, physically and digitally.

Free access at a glance
As a public-interest institution, An-Najah treats its knowledge, facilities and learning platforms as shared community assets. Its public learning provision supports SDG 4: Quality Education, in particular equal access to education (Target 4.3), relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship (Target 4.4), inclusive access for vulnerable learners (Target 4.5) and learning for sustainable development (Target 4.7).
The University provides free educational access to non-students through three complementary routes:

1. University libraries: free access for external learners
Access type: Campus facilities; Online resources
An-Najah National University Libraries welcome community readers, external researchers and students from other institutions. External visitors do not need an advance library subscription to access the services available to non-affiliated users.
Visitors can use reading facilities, consult books, references and rare collections, access periodical rooms and benefit from designated library laboratories and research resources. Library staff also provide assistance with research enquiries and locating academic materials.

Access arrangements: Borrowing privileges are restricted to University students. Licensed databases follow applicable access conditions; some resources are freely available online, while others require onsite access. 2. Digital repository, theses and research collections
Access type: Online resources
An-Najah Digital Repository
The University's digital repository provides a public, open-access gateway to theses, dissertations, faculty publications and academic collections. It supports independent study, literature reviews and research across disciplines.
Master's theses and doctoral dissertations
External learners and researchers can search the dedicated collection and read or download openly available documents, subject to restrictions attached to individual items.
Historical books and manuscripts
The University's old books and manuscripts collection offers free access to rare materials for researchers and the public, supporting learning in history, literature, cultural heritage and related disciplines.
3. Open-access scientific journals
Access type: Online resources
An-Najah's peer-reviewed scientific journals provide free access to scholarly knowledge for readers beyond the University. The journals platform brings together publications in natural sciences, humanities, medicine, pharmacy, law and economics.
External academics, practitioners, students and interested community members can explore published issues and research articles to support evidence-based learning. The University's open-access commitment is recognised by DOAJ indexing: An-Najah University Journal for Research – A (Natural Sciences) became the first Palestinian journal indexed in DOAJ, followed by the Palestinian Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal. An updated journals platform, launched in April 2026, improves public access to archives and research articles.

4. Free recorded lectures and digital learning

An-Najah Lectures
Since 2010, An-Najah has recorded hundreds of courses as educational videos. An-Najah Lectures makes these recorded teaching materials available free of charge across University disciplines. Community learners can browse by faculty and course, revisit explanations and study remotely at their own pace.
The collection covers science, engineering, medicine, education, humanities, law and other subjects. Access to these recorded materials does not require enrolment in an An-Najah degree programme. As part of its community responsibility, the University has also made its e-learning resources freely available to all Palestinian and Arab universities.

E-learning resources and open online courses
The E-Learning Center provides a central route to information about the University's digital learning resources and initiatives, including digital literacy workshops, open online courses and teacher training for schools and community centres. Moodle hosts structured course environments, including a dedicated category of free online courses (MOOCs) in Arabic and English with curricula, presentations and reference materials. Access to individual Moodle courses depends on their published registration and account requirements; not every academic course is available to external learners.
5. Free online courses and digital certificates

Introduction to Sustainable Development
The Introduction to Sustainable Development course is open to members of the public, including people who are not enrolled at An-Najah National University. Participation is free, and the digital certificate of completion is provided at no charge.
Eligible participants receive their certificate after completing the course requirements and achieving at least 80% on the final quiz. Up to three assessment attempts are permitted. The course introduces sustainability principles, the environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and practical sustainability examples.

Discover Palestine: free massive open online course
Discover Palestine, launched by An-Najah as its first MOOC, is a free nine-week online course open to all. It introduces learners worldwide to Palestinian history, culture and heritage, provides learning materials, and awards certificates to successful participants.
Wider sustainability learning
The SDG Training Academy offers free online sustainability courses and publishes a broader catalogue covering climate change, circular economy, sustainable energy, governance and community engagement, together with a free sustainability knowledge test. Conditions for other courses should be checked individually.
6. Language learning and cultural resources
Access type: Online resources; Campus facilities
The Language Resources Center supports independent language learning for the public through free tools, digital resources and self-study links. It also provides information about language and cultural activities. Community learners can explore online materials and contact the Center about organised workshops and participation arrangements.
7. Computer facilities and accessible digital learning
Access type: Campus facilities
Selected University computer laboratories are open to the wider community, including schools, NGOs and external groups, providing free access to computers and the internet for designated learning activities, research and training. University computer facilities also host national and professional licensing examinations.
The University also identifies a dedicated computer laboratory for visually impaired learners among its inclusive educational resources.

How to access: Contact the responsible unit before visiting, stating the educational purpose, group size, equipment requirements and any accessibility needs. Access depends on facility availability and the agreed activity.
8. Public lectures, workshops and educational venues
Access type: Campus facilities
University conference facilities, lecture spaces and theatres host public educational activities, including free workshops, seminars and open lectures. These activities connect schools, civil society, professionals and community learners with academic and practical expertise.

Participants should check each announcement for the intended audience, registration, venue and attendance conditions. Examination and venue-hire charges are separate from attendance at free educational activities.
9. Museums, galleries and heritage learning

The Faculty of Fine Arts provides educational facilities including a museum, gallery, exhibitions, studios and workshops. These resources support engagement with Palestinian heritage, artistic practice and cultural learning. Schools and community organisations can contact the Faculty to arrange educational visits.
10. Innovation, entrepreneurship and future skills

An-Najah Innovation Park (InnoPark) connects education with practical skills, innovation and entrepreneurship. Its programmes and facilities include training, mentorship, workshops, emerging technologies and business support, with free and subsidised training in digital skills, entrepreneurship and professional development for the public.

Artificial intelligence and immersive learning
The AI and Virtual Reality Research Center supports training and applications involving emerging technologies, including engagement with interested participants outside the University.

11. Vocational and technical education
Access type: Campus facilities; Specialist services
The Hisham Hijjawi Training and Rehabilitation Center provides vocational programmes and short courses addressing practical skills and labour-market needs. Its provision includes opportunities for individuals who did not complete formal education. Training areas include refrigeration, vehicle technology, computer networks, electrical installations and other technical specialisations.
The Hisham Hijjawi Faculty of Technology also extends free specialised training to technical students and graduates. In August 2025 it signed a training agreement under the Erasmus+ TECGREMED project committing to free specialised training, and in August 2026 it delivered a free solar PV design and installation course with hands-on exercises for technical-college graduates aged 20 to 25. Short continuing-education courses, such as the micro-credential in medical-device maintenance announced in November 2025, target engineers and technicians.
Applicants should confirm eligibility, programme duration, fees and certification arrangements with the Center.
12. Agricultural, veterinary and scientific learning

University agricultural facilities connect practical education with community knowledge exchange. The Agricultural Research and Training Center supports farmers and food producers through training and consultations. In May 2025 the University launched Palestine's first training centre using virtual and augmented reality for greenhouse assembly and hydroponic systems.

Maqam is a free online encyclopedia of Palestinian legislation and judicial decisions, supporting legal learning among practitioners, researchers and the public.
Legal Clinic and human rights education
The University's Legal Clinic provides free legal services to low-income groups and promotes awareness of rights and access to justice. The Palestinian Institute for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights provides an additional route to legal education.
Fatwa knowledge platform
The Fatwa platform provides digital access to juridical rulings and scholarly guidance on religious belief, worship, transactions and contemporary questions.

16. Sports and community wellbeing

The University's Sports Complex supports community participation in physical activity and provides opportunities to learn about exercise, teamwork and wellbeing. The Open Science Gateway identifies free access for schools, young people and community groups. Activities and visits should be coordinated with the responsible unit.
17. Community learning, school engagement and volunteering
Access type: Campus facilities
The University's community learning framework includes cultural awareness, health education, environmental activities, STEM demonstrations and school visits. It also includes student-led peer learning in mathematics, English, computing and science, alongside educational support for disadvantaged school learners.
Campus facilities regularly host school learners and families. In 2025, the University hosted the Palestine Science and Technology Fair (ISEF 2025), featuring 41 school projects with the involvement of University academics, and the AFPC14 Arab programming competition for school students, with 71 participants and 20 qualifying students. Community workshops reach parents and caregivers, including training for parents of adolescents with special needs and an awareness workshop on child development and positive parenting.

18. Educational continuity through TESI
Access type: Online resources
The Technical Educational Support for Higher Education Students Initiative (TESI) supports eligible Gaza students whose studies have been disrupted. Launched with UNIMED in February 2024, TESI facilitates remote educational continuity without a financial burden on participating students or their home universities, providing access to technical education resources, support materials and training modules. Successive cohorts have been admitted, including the fourth cohort announced in January 2025.
