Distinguished Professor Award
An-Najah National University has recently initiated the “Distinguished Professor” award, an award given to those who obtain a full Professor rank and publish prominent research papers in international scientific periodicals. Candidate professors should also achieve at least 70 academic citations in other publications.
An-Najah has taken this step to encourage scientific research in Palestine and hence compete with local, Arab and international academic institutions and achieve progress in the world university rankings.

Distinguished Professor 2021-2022

Prof. Sameer Abu-Eisheh
Professor of Civil Engineering at An-Najah National University in Nablus - Palestine. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with specialty in Roads and Transportation Planning and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in the U.S.A. in 1987, with distinction 4.0/4.0.
He also earned his M.Sc. from the same university in 1984, while he obtained the B.Sc. from the University of Jordan in 1982. He was served in several positions including the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dean of Engineering, and University President's Assistant for Planning and Development. He also held the position of a visiting professor at a number of American, German and French universities.
Prof. Othman Hamed
Prof. Othman Hamed received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 1996 under the guidance of Professor Patrick Henry, Loyola University of Chicago, Chicago. His graduate research focused on the synthesis and characterization of optically active organic compounds and drugs using new chirality transfer and catalytic methods. In 1996, he the Loyola University, Chicago, USA as al lecturer and he joined the Southern Regional Research Center, USDA-ARS, New Orleans as a scientist in 1998.


Prof. Mohammed Abu-Jafar
Prof. Mohammed Abu-Jafar was born in Jenin city in 1960 and he obtained his General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) from Jenin Secondary School in 1978. He obtained his BSc. degree in physics from An-Najah National University in 1982 and his MSc. in Physics from Jordan University in 1985. He was appointed at the Physics Department at An-Najah University in 1985.
He earned his Ph.D. degree in Physics from Southern Illinois University (S.I.U.) at Carbondale-U.S.A. in 1991. He received a scholarship to work as a teaching assistant during his higher education studies at Jordan University and S.I.U. He was also promoted to the rank of Associated Professor in January 2002.

Prof. Mohammad Al-Saeid
Professor Al-Saeid was born in Deiristya village, and he received his primary and secondary education in Deiristya and Salfit Schools in 1977. Then in 1981, he received his bachelor's degree in Science/Physics from the Jordanian University in Amman. In 1984, he enrolled in the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey to continue his higher studies. In the following year, he got the MSc, and then the PhD in Theoretical Physics, particularly the Solid-State Physics in 1990. Between 1984 and 1990, he worked as a research and teaching assistant during his study.

Prof. Naji Qatanani
Prof. Naji Qatanani is currently the Dean of Scientific Research at An-Najah National University. He holds a B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from Sunderland University, UK, and a M.Sc degree in Engineering Mathematics from Newcastle University Upon Tyne, UK. He gained his Ph.D degree in Applied Mathematics from Stuttgart University, Germany. Currently he is a full professor of Applied Mathematics at An-Najah National University.
Prof. Qatanani has published more than 40 papers in international journals and supervised more than 25 Master students and one Ph.D student .
He is Editor-in-Chief and a member of editorial board for many international journals. His research interests mainly in mathematical physics, integral equations, control theory, computational methods and MHD flow problems.

He holds a PhD in applied physics from the Ohio State University, USA and is a professor of physics at the Faculty of Physics of An-Najah National University, Palestine.
