Educational Outreach Beyond Campus
An-Najah National University takes teaching, demonstrations and learning support into local schools, municipal libraries, refugee camps, community centres and public healthcare centres across the northern West Bank. Outreach is delivered by the Community Service Center, academic faculties, specialist institutes, Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, the Legal Clinic and student associations.
The University, as a body, undertakes educational outreach beyond campus on a programmed basis and through ad-hoc activities, including voluntary student-run schemes.
Programmed
11 recurring programmes with named organising units, repeated each year or school term.

Tailored lectures, demonstrations and workshops requested by schools, ministries and community partners.
Student volunteers
Supervised student volunteers teach in schools, camps and health centres through University bodies.
Who we reach and how
Outreach is designed for different learners: schoolchildren, adolescents, parents, women, older residents, farmers and healthcare professionals. Sessions combine academic expertise with accessible methods, including small-group tutoring, interactive discussion, age-appropriate games, practical demonstrations with teaching models, educational brochures and field learning. Faculties work with municipalities, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, health and education directorates, schools and community associations so that activities take place where learners already are.
What we teach
STEM and innovation
Science fairs, programming clubs and competitions, AI training for young people, the Little Geniuses Innovation Club and laboratory visits for school pupils.
Health and wellbeing
Nutrition, hygiene, dental and eye health, first aid, diabetes care, cancer awareness and mental health, taught in schools, health centres and community venues.
Sustainability and environment
Environmental lessons with school planting, the Nablus tree-planting campaign, EECU field learning, and good agricultural practice training for farmers.
Law, rights and civic life
Family law, children’s rights, online safety, cyber extortion and financial-fraud awareness through the Legal Clinic.
Education and careers
Supportive tutoring, study skills, technical and vocational guidance, Tawjihi guidance days, and early-childhood educator training.

These programmes run on a regular cycle under a named University unit.
School Visits Programme
Public Relations Department, with faculties and the “Ehna An-Najah” student team
Schools book guided educational visits to the University through a dedicated online booking system run by the Public Relations Department, which also offers a virtual campus tour. The University also sends guidance teams into schools: guidance tours across the northern governorates, and the “Ehna An-Najah” student team, whose work includes school guidance and voluntary activities.
Supportive Education Program
Community Service Center
Volunteers from the University and the local community give small-group and one-to-one tutoring to children facing learning barriers, in Arabic, English and mathematics. In 2025 the programme ran at Qabalan Town Library and with Northern Asira Municipality, and a school initiative engaged around 70 girls in study skills, time management and confidence building.
Technical education guidance visits to schools
Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology
Each school year the College’s careers-guidance team visits secondary schools to explain technical and vocational pathways. The 2024–2025 cycle ran from February to April 2025, reaching schools in Nablus, Jaba’, Silat al-Dhahr, Qabatiya, Arraba, Kafr Ra’i, Meithalun, Tubas, Tayasir, Sebastia, Tell and Kafr Qalil, and closed on 25 April 2025.
School health education
Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medicine
Supervised nursing and medical students teach hygiene, nutrition, dental care, first aid, disease prevention and healthy technology use inside schools, using teaching models and practical demonstrations. 2025 sessions included Nablus Basic Mixed School and a health education day at Al-Rahibat School.
Community legal literacy
Legal Clinic, Faculty of Law and Political Science
Legal Clinic volunteers run a recurring series of workshops for women, children and adolescents in community centres and refugee camps, using practical cases and interactive discussion. In 2025 the series covered family law, children’s rights, online safety and cyber extortion, and financial fraud.
Environmental education in schools
Community Service Center
Environmental lectures are followed by hands-on planting and school-garden work, so pupils apply what they learn. 2025 activities took place at Salem, Qudri Touqan, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, Azmut and Sheikh Mohammed Tafaha schools.
Palestine Science and Technology Fair (ISEF)
Faculty of Science with the Nablus Directorate of Education
The University has hosted and judged the fair every year since 2020. The 2025 edition, the sixth, showcased 41 research projects from schools across the directorate.
Little Geniuses Innovation Club
Najah Innovation Park and student volunteers
A recurring STEM and innovation club for school-age children, mentored by University staff and student volunteers. It ran a winter session in January 2025 and its third and fourth editions between May and August 2025.
Environmental education for schools and communities
Environmental Education and Conservation Unit (EECU)
EECU runs school programmes, community awareness sessions, agricultural workshops and a guided Community Track that takes families, schools and community groups into natural landscapes with trained experts. Groups can also book guided visits to its Natural History Museum of Palestinian fossils, its herbarium, medicinal garden and bird exhibition. Students and community members join as registered volunteers.
Language learning for the local community
Language Resources Center (LRC)
The LRC offers English language courses for school students during the summer break, works with local organisations such as Tomorrow’s Youth Organization and Project Hope, and opens its Language Open Day and cultural days to the public.
Local Community Initiatives Programme
Community Service Center
The programme takes community work to rural areas and communities far from the city centre. It trains local communities and supplies University volunteers to deliver programmes similar to those run at the Center, and encourages volunteers to set up branch centres with local institutions.
