Access and Admission to Study Policy

Policy Statement

An-Najah National University is dedicated to providing equitable access to education for all applicants. The University ensures that admission to credit programs is based on objective, measurable, and non-discriminatory criteria. The University is committed to fair consideration of all applicants, with a particular focus on promoting diversity and inclusion. As part of this commitment, the University actively measures and tracks the applications and admissions of underrepresented and potentially underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities, low-income students, non-traditional students, women, LGBT students, and disabled students. These efforts aim to enhance access and participation for all students, ensuring that the University environment is inclusive and supportive.

Purpose

This policy defines the criteria and processes used in assessing applicants for admission to programs at An-Najah National University. It ensures that these criteria are applied consistently and fairly, promoting diversity and inclusivity within the University community.

Scope

This policy applies to all applicants seeking admission and to staff responsible for setting admission requirements and making admission decisions.

Principles
Procedures and decisions at An-Najah National University:

  1. Treat all students fairly and respectfully.
  2. Are non-discriminatory and non-intrusive.
  3. Provide appropriate confidentiality and privacy.
  4. Provide appropriate access to education.
  5. Ensure that all persons have access to informed support regarding policies, procedures, rights, and responsibilities.
  6. Operate with clear written expectations for conduct and handling of complaints.
  7. Maintain and clearly state a high standard of instruction and administration in all areas of educational programs and services.
  8. Track and measure applications and admissions of underrepresented and potentially underrepresented groups to ensure that these groups are given fair and careful consideration in the admission process.
  9. Give more opportunities in the admission process to underrepresented groups, including traditional students, women, disabled students, etc.
  10. Provide careful consideration and support in the admission and completion processes to students from low-income households.
  11. Create an infrastructure and supporting services that enhance the University environment for people with disabilities, including dedicated centers, tools and equipment, and access schemes.
