Equitable and Inclusive Student Admissions Policy

Policy Statement

An-Najah National University is committed to ensuring fairness, equality, and inclusion in all aspects of student admissions. The University adopts a non-discriminatory approach that values diversity and provides equal opportunities for all applicants regardless of gender, nationality, religion, socioeconomic background, disability, or any other status. Admissions decisions are based solely on academic merit, potential, and alignment with program requirements.

Purpose

This policy aims to guarantee transparency, integrity, and equity throughout the admissions process. It ensures that every applicant is evaluated fairly, and that the University continues to reflect its mission of advancing education, social justice, and community development in Palestine and beyond.

Scope

This policy applies to all undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs offered by An-Najah National University across all campuses and faculties. It covers domestic and international applicants, including those from underrepresented or disadvantaged groups.

Principles

  • Equality of Opportunity:

Every applicant is given equal consideration based on objective academic and personal criteria. The University ensures that its selection processes are impartial, consistent, and accessible to all.

  • Non-Discrimination:
The University prohibits any discrimination based on gender, age, religion, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic status, nationality, or political affiliation. Decisions are guided solely by qualifications, merit, and potential for success.

  • Inclusion and Diversity:

An-Najah recognizes the strength that comes from a diverse student body. The University actively seeks to include students from various cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, creating an environment of respect, understanding, and shared learning.

  • Positive Action and Social Responsibility:

In alignment with its commitment to social equity, the University may implement targeted measures—such as outreach programs, preparatory courses, or reserved opportunities—to support students from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups. These measures are designed to reduce structural barriers and expand access to education without compromising academic standards.

  • Transparency and Accountability:

Admissions criteria, deadlines, and procedures are clearly published and communicated. All decisions are documented and subject to review to ensure fairness and accountability at every stage of the process.

  • Accessibility and Support:

The University provides necessary accommodations for applicants with disabilities and offers guidance and support services to help all candidates complete the admissions process successfully.

  • Confidentiality and Respect:

The privacy of all applicants is strictly protected. Personal information and admission records are managed with integrity and respect, in accordance with University policies and legal requirements.

Implementation and Review

The Deanship of Admission and Registration oversees the implementation of this policy, ensuring that procedures are consistently fair and transparent. The University periodically reviews the policy to ensure alignment with national higher education standards, social inclusion goals, and international best practices.
