Outreach Activities

An-Najah National University is deeply committed to promoting sustainable water management practices and conscious water usage both on and off campus. Through its specialized units, research initiatives, and academic faculties, the university actively supports water conservation within the local community and beyond. Three key bodies that contribute significantly to this effort are the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, the Water Research Unit, and the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Water Resources Management.
The Water Research Unit, part of the Water and Environmental Studies Center since 1994, plays a pivotal role in addressing water challenges in Palestine. The unit promotes conscious water usage through educational workshops, public awareness programs, and collaborations with governmental bodies, the private sector, and local communities. In addition to on-campus activities, the unit extends its water conservation support to off-campus communities by providing research-based recommendations and solutions for better water management practices.
UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Water Resources Management
The UNESCO Chair fosters an interdisciplinary approach to water management, promoting conscious water usage through education, training, and community development. By forming partnerships at both national and international levels, the UNESCO Chair supports the advancement of water infrastructure and the improvement of wastewater services. These efforts directly benefit off-campus communities, as the chair focuses on enhancing water conservation practices and ensuring sustainable water usage beyond the university.
Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine
The Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine not only educates students but also actively engages with local farmers and agricultural producers to promote sustainable water usage in agriculture. Through workshops, field training, and research projects, the faculty advocates for efficient irrigation systems, soil-water conservation techniques, and methods that reduce water waste. This directly contributes to water conservation efforts off campus, ensuring that best practices are adopted by local agricultural sectors.
