Collaboration on Climate Adaptation

An-Najah National University (ANNU) collaborates with non-governmental organizations and community networks to strengthen climate knowledge, sustainable resource management and capacity for adaptation. These partnerships connect university research with community experience, supporting responses to water scarcity, environmental pressures and the need for more resilient buildings and communities.

The University’s Energy, Water and Food Security Research Center provides an institutional foundation for cooperation on water resilience and climate adaptation. This work is complemented by the SAGE Centre and student associations that engage external organizations through workshops, conferences and community activities.

ANNU’s approach combines applied research, knowledge exchange and public participation. Its partnerships include organisations working on water resources and sustainable construction, alongside youth networks that build climate awareness and participation. This cooperation forms part of the University’s wider climate action framework and cross-sectoral dialogue for sustainable development.

Building Climate Knowledge Through Youth Cooperation

The Climate Fresk workshop demonstrates direct cooperation between a university student association and an external climate network. Interactive learning strengthened climate awareness and encouraged students to engage with environmental challenges.
ANNU students also contributed to LCOY Palestine 2025, organised by the Arab Youth Green Voices Network. Their contributions included organisation, session facilitation and workshops addressing food security, environmental health, renewable energy and climate justice.

These activities support the educational and participatory foundations of adaptation, complementing technical research and resource-management partnerships.

Water Resilience and Sustainable Buildings

Water scarcity and pressures on the built environment are important concerns within ANNU’s adaptation-related cooperation. The University’s partnership directory identifies both the Palestinian Hydrologists Group and the Palestine Green Building Council, linking university expertise with organisations working in these fields.

The April 2025 sustainability conference exposed participating students to green-building practices, rating systems, case studies and sustainable-development approaches. Such engagement develops knowledge relevant to reducing resource pressures and improving the sustainability of communities.
