Student Union Council
The Student Union Council represents students at An-Najah National University and serves as the highest body protecting their academic and student rights. It works to create a fair and sustainable campus by practicing democratic representation and connecting students with the University through the Deanship of Student Affairs, ensuring smooth academic life and addressing student concerns with transparency.
The Council also enhances student life by organizing academic and extracurricular activities that develop skills and talents. Through its 13 committees, it manages cultural, sports, and volunteer programs, improves campus services, and promotes values like belonging, excellence, and community engagement.

To be a leading example of student empowerment and participation, strengthening students’ sense of belonging and responsibility, and serving as a strong link between students and the University.
Mission
To represent students effectively, protect their rights, and improve their university experience by encouraging participation and organizing activities that develop their skills. The Council also supports the University and community through partnerships that promote fairness, belonging, and excellence.
Objectives

Address student issues and advocate for their rights.

Practice student and political governance, expressing opinions through democratic dialogue while ensuring smooth academic operations.

Raise student awareness in academic, religious, national, and social matters.

Collaborate with University entities and individuals to strengthen national belonging.

Contribute to the development and modernization of University facilities and pursue all initiatives in the best interest of students and the University.

Represent and lead the student movement.

Defend student rights across social, academic, and union matters.

Develop, supervise, and implement seasonal programs and activities.

Coordinate with the Deanship of Student Affairs on student issues and liaise with University departments.

Prepare the general budget proposal and present it to the General Assembly for approval.

Submit regular reports to the General Assembly.

Prepare financial and administrative reports for review at the end of the term.

The Council cannot adopt union measures or strike actions without consulting the General Assembly.

Responsibilities of the Council President and Members (Secretariat)

Council President: Represents the Council before all University bodies and oversees all Council activities

Finance Committee: Manages the Council’s budget and monitors expenses

Public Relations Committee: Coordinates with the University administration and external organizations

Cultural Committee: Organizes seminars, competitions, and cultural events
-
Social Committee: Strengthens student connections, follows up on social cases, and handles housing issues

Academic (Majors) Committee: Resolves academic issues related to colleges and departments

Arts Committee: Supports artistic talents (drawing, theater, music) and organizes art events

Sports Committee: Organizes tournaments, competitions, and sports activities

Health Committee: Promotes health awareness and organizes blood donation campaigns and health activities

Cafeteria Committee: Monitors prices and the quality of services provided to students

Volunteer Work Committee: Organizes community service campaigns inside and outside the University

Services Committee: Follows up on campus facilities and students’ logistical needs

Documentation and Archives Committee: Records meeting minutes, documents activities, and archives achievements
Election Cycle:
- Elections are held annually on Monday of the 10th week of the first semester

Early elections occur if the current Council loses confidence from the General Assembly
Decision-Making:

The Student Union Council Constitution serves as the primary reference
-
During elections (if no assembly exists), interpretation authority shifts to the Election Preparatory Committee
Note: To ensure professionalism, the Council should hold regular weekly meetings and submit quarterly reports to the General Assembly to monitor financial and administrative performance.
