Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities

The Students with Disabilities Care Office at An-Najah National University, in collaboration with data provided by the Palestinian General Union of people with disabilities and the Ministry of Social Affairs, has identified that over 75% of students with disabilities enrolled in Palestinian universities come from low- or middle-income families. In response to this pressing need, the Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities has been established.

The primary objective of this fund is to offer full or partial scholarships to students with disabilities, as well as to students whose parents are severely disabled, through generous contributions from community institutions and philanthropists who are committed to supporting this group.

Fund Proposal

The proposal aims to establish the Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities at An-Najah National University, providing essential financial support for students with disabilities. This initiative is designed to serve as a catalyst for their academic success and social integration, enabling them to engage in meaningful employment and vocational training alongside their peers.

Target Beneficiaries

The fund is initially focused on providing support to male and female students with disabilities studying at An-Najah National University. In subsequent phases, it will expand to include students with disabilities at other Palestinian universities.

Implementation Strategy

A separate account will be created within the university’s financial system under the name Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities.

The availability of scholarships will be promoted through local media channels, the university’s official platforms (including An-Najah Radio and the university website), and through the Zajel Program at An-Najah National University.

Fund Objectives

  • To provide full or partial scholarships for students with disabilities.

  • To offer full or partial scholarships for students whose parents have severe disabilities.

Fund Administration

  • The fund will be administratively overseen by the Students with Disabilities Care Office at the university.

  • Management of the fund will involve collaboration between the university and partner institutions that contribute to the fund.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must not be under academic probation.

  • The cumulative GPA of the student should not be below 2/4.

  • The applicant’s family should have more than one member with a disability.

These criteria are designed to ensure that recipients maintain a high standard of academic performance and remain motivated to achieve academic excellence.
