Women’s Empowerment Schemes

An-Najah National University (ANNU) strongly believes in gender equality and is committed to providing women with equal access opportunities to education, research, and professional development. the University implements mentoring, scholarships, targeted support programs, and access schemes that foster a supportive environment for women to enroll, excel, and lead in academic and professional fields.

Mentoring & Capacity Building

  • Women and Society Research Unit: continues to provide mentoring sessions, workshops, and awareness programs on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and leadership.

  • Academic Mentorship: Female students are connected with professors and alumnae for career guidance, skills development, and networking opportunities.

  • Professional Development Training (2024):

    • Leadership & Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for female graduates.

    • Soft skills & employability training tailored to women entering the job market.

  • Notable 2024 Event: Mentoring and curriculum design training for female students under the GRIT-Thabry project.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

  • Equal opportunity scholarships are open to all, with special encouragement for women to apply.

  • Clarke Education Foundation Partnership (2024): Provided scholarships for Palestinian female students at ANNU.

  • Darzah Incubator Project: Awarded scholarships for female students in entrepreneurship and innovation.

  • Achievements: In 2024, 46 scholarships were awarded to girls and young women across multiple faculties.

Targeted Educational Programs

  • Women’s Studies Program: A multidisciplinary program focusing on gender relations, law, education, and health—empowering female students to pursue higher studies.

  • STEM & Technical Education Initiatives: Orientation Days and campaigns to encourage female enrollment in engineering, ICT, and vocational education.

  • Workshops & Training (2024):

    • Awareness sessions in Jenin and Tulkarem on inclusion of female students with disabilities.

    • Technical and vocational career days targeting girls.

International & Local Projects for Women

  • GRIT Thabry Project (with CLWR): Promotes gender-responsive technical and vocational education; includes scholarships for girls, enhanced labs, and staff capacity building.

  • GREENLAND Project (ENI CBC MED): Provides training and marketable skills to women and youth in the green and circular economy.

  • GROW Project: Enhances the economic empowerment of low-income women in the West Bank through training and employment opportunities.

  • New Opportunities (2024): Training on sustainable economy sectors for women and youth.

Student Exchange & Global Exposure

  • Equal access to exchange programs, with special encouragement for female participation.

  • Female students received opportunities for academic mobility, cultural exchange, and research internships abroad.
