In cooperation with the Journalism Department of an-Najah and Zajel Youth Exchange Program, two British volunteers organized a workshop on western media and stereotypes, the role of Israeli lobbies in distorting news and fabricating myths on the Middle Eastern conflict, and the different ways in which Palestinians can counteract these negative stereotypes and false information.
A presentation on the objectiveness and neutrality of western media took place, referring to the neglect of the news coverage of the Palestinian perspective, and explaining why the Israeli perspective was predominant in the news broadcasted in Britain and the United-States.
The workshop emphasized the necessity of developing the Arabic media, which has to increase contact-making with western journalists, enhance its image, and improve its systems and techniques.
