In cooperation with UNESCO, the Earth Seismic Scientific Earthquake Centre, ESSEC, organized a workshop on the reduction of natural disaster crises in Ramallah city. Some Ministry officers participated in the workshop as well as NGOs and engineering companies.
Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Director of ESSEC gave two presentations on “Earthquake Preparedness,” and “Planning Crises Management.” Debate and discussion took place where different participants spoke about the lack of readiness and logistical coordination in dealing with a potential natural disaster.
The discussion ended by suggesting some recommendations like enforcing new regulations regarding home construction and building infrastructure that should be anti earthquake. Another recommendation was to launch an awareness campaign within the community in order to increase public knowledge of the dangers of earthquakes.
