In cooperation with the French Consulate, Jerusalem and the French Department, a play inspired by the French novelist Emil Zola was performed on stage at An-Najah National University. The play, which involved actors and actresses in their second year of study in the French Department, focused upon the impact of the occupation on student life in Palestine. This included scenes depicting the daily hardships faced by students, such as Israeli roadblocks, growing unemployment, and the general inability to have a normal social life.

The idea for the play came from students in the French Department who have been active organizing trips and plays, writing scripts, offering conversation training courses, and participating in other non-educational activities. The French Consulate, which has supported the French Department in a number of different activities, sponsored the event. Roland Greme, Jean Pierre Poncer as well as others from the French Cultural Center in Nablus attended the performance.
