On May 9th 2010, the Department of Communication Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at the University organized a workshop about the Palestine Cellular Communication Company, Jawwal. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) at the University at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the New Campus.


Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC, Dr. Maher Khammash, Head of the Electrical and Communication Engineering Departments as well as a number of students attended the meeting.
Engineer Dwaikat presented a summary of the ECC and spoke about the programs it includes and the activities it carries out. Dr. Dmaidi then thanked Jawwal for holding this workshop which aimed to familiarize the students with its work and achievements as well as transferring its experience to them. Such workshops reinforce cooperation between the University and local institutions and encourage students to join them.
After that, Dr. Khammash spoke about the Department of Communication Engineering, its establishment, the programs it offers to the students and the importance of such specialization to the Palestinian society. Dr. Allam Mousa, IEEE Consultant spoke about the establishment of the Institute, the different programs it runs and the efforts it exerts to provide Engineering students with experience and sharpen their skills.


Dr. Khaled Hijjeh, Director of the Planning Department at Jawwal, said that the Company has most of its employees from the faculties of engineering and economics at the University. He also explained the different technologies that the Company uses and mentioned that the different branches of engineering must be integrated into one system in which communication and mechanical engineering, for example, coordinate efforts to achieve the desired development in Palestine.
Other participants from Jawwal also spoke about the Company's work, the type of services it provides, the communication systems that form the Company and others.
