On May 16^th 2010, the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) of the Faculty of Engineering at the University organized a scientific tour for a number of students from the Department of Building Engineering, particularly those who are currently enrolled in the Principals of Architectural Design course. The tour included visiting a number of residential areas and buildings for the purpose of introducing the students to the various patterns and designs of different residential buildings in Nablus, as well as familiarizing them with the different materials used to construct them.

Dr. Mutasem Ba'ba, Head of the Building Engineering Department, said that such visits provide the students with a great opportunity to obtain practical experience and the ability to relate their theoretical knowledge with the practical aspect of their study. It also encourages them to come up with novel ideas and creative projects that would benefit the society.

"Such tours are vital links between the Faculty and the society. Engineering is an important specialization that directly affects the life of people and the advancement of the country" said Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University.

Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC, said that the Center is concerned with organizing similar tours in the future so as to expand the students' experience and add to their knowledge regarding the practical application of their study on the ground.
