The Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center (ESSEC) at An-Najah National University organized the first seismic test in Palestine. The center’s teams recorded the natural frequency of the university buildings by using sensitive seismic equipments (seismic acquisition systems-seismometers). The experiment involved the help of thousands of students whom created vibrations by pounding their feet on the ground at an appointed time.
Dr.Jalal Al-Dabik, the Director of (ESSEC) said the goal of this experiment is to examine the natural frequency modes standard in Palestinian buildings to aid in developing an empirical formula to help determine the natural period of buildings in Palestine.
