Under the auspices of the World Council of Optometry (WCO) and the European Council of Optometry & Optics (ECOO) and the driving force behind the inspirational challenge of VISION 2020 spurred on by the World Health Organization (WHO), Dean of the Faculty of Optometry, the only Arab Representative to the Conference, and member of the Steering Committee of the World Conference on Optometric Globalization gave a speech on the Challenges for Practice in the Middle East.  The lecture titled: Optometric Globalization versus Domestic Laws: The Drive for Legitimating in Palestinian Optometry, Successes and Dilemmas. The Dean of Faculty of Optometry had also participated in the Governing Board Meeting of the World Council of Optometry that was held in conjunction with the Globalization Conference, and had briefed the Executive Board on the status of Optometry in Palestine and in the Middle East.  The conference was held in London, UK  from 11 to 13 April 2008.
