A Symposium on the Relationship between the Palestinian Stock Exchange and its Fellows in the Arab Markets was organized by the Stock Exchange and attended by business men, students, and representatives from many companies. The participants spoke about the attractiveness of the Palestinian Stock Exchange to investors and companies alike.
The Stock Exchange was established in 1997 and was one of the most active markets in the region until 2000 when the Israeli occupation authorities imposed a tight siege against the Palestinian people and their economy. One of the main goals of the stock market was to attract and encourage foreign investment to Palestine of which the political situation in the region has been a major deterrent.
