The Department of English organized a symposium on April 22 on “Teaching English Language and Literature at Intermediate and Advanced levels - a vision for a Future Remedy”.
It was opened by Prof. Rami hamdallah, the University President, who explained the importance of teaching and learning English as a second language for Palestinian people. The day-long symposium was well attended by school teachers and university students.
It covered six areas: error analysis; pragmatics, translations and language teaching; evaluation and motivation; methods and errors and solutions. A total of 21 working papers was delivered by faculty members from the Department of English, and by graduate students in the applied linguistics and translation program.
