The Forensic Medicine Institute of the Medicine Faculty was opened under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, councilor Farid Jallad, and the participation of the Attorney General Mr. Ahmad Mughany, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Salah Masri and Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University President and Dean of Medicine Faculty Prof. Husni Maqboul, The opening ceremony was attended by members of local associations and ministries, faculty members and judicial personalities.
Mr. Masri saluted the efforts that contributed to the establishment of this institute which will serve the northern part of West Bank referring to the continual efforts the university administration is making in order to provide the university with more highly skilled professors.
Prof. Hamdallah mentioned that the Forensic Medicine Institute will provide the highly needed technical equipment that will fill the gap in this field which will make the northern part of West Bank the center of Forensic science in Palestine. He also thanked the Palestinian donors who are living in the Diaspora.
Mr. Jallad spoke about the importance of opening such institutes in the West Bank as it will help in criminal research, investigations and medical reports. He said the Ministry of Justice is going to open a branch in Nablus to access its benefits.
Physician Nihad Masri, Member of the Board of Trustees spoke about the importance of this event and expressed his enthusiasm for seeing it a reality. An agreement was signed between the University and the Ministry of Justice in order to jointly operate the Institute.
