Six students from the French Department of the University returned home after their participation in a one-month training course at the Centre for Applied Linguistics of Besaçon in France, which took place between the 2nd and the 29th of July. The group visited languages institutes that target foreign students. There was cultural theme too where students learned about the French culture.
Dr. Bilal Shafi`, Head of the French Department, said that this visit is organized every year by the French Consulate for our students of French, in order to strengthen their command of the French language and their knowledge of French culture. He added that the French Department sends two students as research assistants to teach Arabic in centers in France every year. He said, “This is a good opportunity for our students to learn more about linguistics.” Dr. Shafi` thanked the French Consulate that supports many such projects.
Rand Atabeh, a student from the French Department and one of the students who went to France said that she learned a lot from the training course. “It was great experience and a new one for us. It was very useful to interact and communicate with the native speakers in the heart of France. We also learned about French culture and the cultures of other students participating in the course.”
