Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center (ESSEC) participated in a workshop on Seismicity of dead sea rift area in Amman, Jordan on 13-17 April 2004 to study fields and analyses of the regional seismic project which was launched in 1999.
There was a presentation on the scientific results of work by Palestinian Jordanian and German researchers. Field work was organized to different sites in Jordan which were part of the scanning project.
ESSE`s Director, Prof. Jalal Al-Dabbeak, made a presentation about the impact of the earthquake of February 2004, explaining the seismic intensity of the earthquake and its relation to the site effect, geological tectonic,and faulting systems of Palestine.
The recommendations focused on conducting micro seismic studies in order to know the seismic site conditions of each zone of the Palestinian cities/Territories.
