A group of teachers, students, workers in the human rights associations and civic society organizations from the Basque Country visited the University and met with its Public Relations Department’s Director, Saed Abu Hijleh. Who explained the students and academics right to education and the troubles they face because of the occupation. He said that more than fifty students had died over the past five years. The students and their families have felt the full brunt of the economic situation in Nablus resulting in many prospective students being unable to afford the tuition fees. The occupation has also caused a psychological impact on the students who are suffering from daily humiliations at the roadblocks.
Despite these troubles the University has managed to go ahead with its long term strategic plans; opened the new campus, graduated its students and opened more scientific centers for research.
