An-Najah National University family mourns with great sadness the death of Professor Edward W. Said. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Edward Said's family, and we share our profound sense of loss with the large community that loved him.

Edward Said was a fountain of humanity, compassion, intellectual restlessness and creativity; his irreplaceable voice articulated the plight of the Palestinian community to the world in a way that none other could. He was an intelligent and caring man who presented the truth and always spoke with dignity. He gave us hope and strength, and while he is well known for helping the world understand more about the Palestinian situation, he also helped many of us better understand ourselves. His passing is a true loss not just to the Palestinian community, but to all who respect justice, pursuit of truth, and intellectual integrity. Edward Said was a great man.

Once again, we extend our deepest condolences to Edward Said's family, and grieve with the rest of the Palestinian people.
