An-Najah Receives Professor Bruse Lankford
On Monday, January 23rd, 2017, the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Democracy and Peace and Water and Environment Studies Institute at An-Najah received Bruse Lankford, Professor of water and Irrigation policy at the University of East Anglia in Britain.
Prof. Lankford from the University of East Anglia in Britain gave a lecture in the New Campus library as part of a three year project on governing the paracommons of the Palestinian water funded by the AFD. The project is coordinated by Julie Trottier from CNRS.
In the presentation, Prof. Lankford discussed using water efficiency savings in the Palestinian irrigation system.
Dr. Joni Aasi from the UNESCO Chair introduced Prof. Lankford and Prof. Marwan Haddad from Water and Environment Studies Institute translated and explained Bruce's talk with elaboration and managed discussion at the end of it.
Prof. Lankford explained potential water conservation mechanisms pointing out the individual water conservation always leads to a general conservation of water level in the country and consequently higher water use efficiently. Several worldwide case studies were given on the subject matter.
An active discussion took place after the presentation especially on how the allocation and distribution of benefits among water savers.
The lecture was also attended by a number of academic and administrative members as well as a group of students from different faculties.
