An-Najah National University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Palestinian Charity for Youth Economic Empowerment (CYEE) and Raya Media and Publishing Company under the Media Pathways Project, implemented by CYEE in partnership with Raya Media Network, in cooperation with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and funded by the European Union. The project aims to equip students and graduates in media and digital communication with practical skills and enhance their readiness to enter the labor market.

The MoU was signed at the University's campus. Dr. Abdulsalam Alkhayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, signed on behalf of An-Najah National University, while Ms. Sahar Othman, Executive Director of The Palestinian Charity for Youth Economic Empowerment (CYEE), and Ms. Hiba Al-Wazni Wlawil, Chief Executive Officer of Raya Media and Publishing Company, signed on behalf of their respective organizations.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Naim Salameh, Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for the Humanities Faculties; Professor Raafat Al-Jallad, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication; Ms. Yasmeen Shahrour, Director of the Communication Department; Dr. Amer Qasem, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Communication; and Mr. Faisal Saleh, Head of the Department of Digital Media.

Professor Alkhayyat emphasized that the partnership aligns with the University's vision of advancing practice-oriented education and strengthening the connection between higher education outcomes and labor market needs. He noted that the media and communication sector is undergoing rapid transformation, requiring graduates to develop advanced practical and technical competencies. He further stressed the University's commitment to building impactful partnerships with civil society organizations and the private sector to provide high-quality training opportunities that enhance students' and graduates' employability while fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

For her part, Ms. Sahar Othman explained that the Media Pathways Project seeks to economically and professionally empower Palestinian youth through specialized training programs in digital media, content creation, and media communication. The project also provides paid internship opportunities and supports youth-led entrepreneurial media initiatives.

Ms. Hiba Al-Wazni Walwil noted that the project offers participants direct exposure to professional media environments through field placements within media organizations, complemented by career mentoring and networking opportunities with private-sector institutions. These experiences are designed to strengthen participants' employability and facilitate their successful integration into the labor market.

Under the MoU, the partners will implement a series of specialized training programs and activities aimed at building the capacities of students, graduates, and academic staff. These initiatives include awareness sessions, field visits, career development events, paid internships, support for entrepreneurial media initiatives, and the development of a professional database to strengthen employment opportunities and foster stronger connections between graduates and media organizations.

The MoU reflects An-Najah's ongoing commitment, through its Faculty of Business and Communication, to integrating academic learning with practical experience. It also reaffirms the University's dedication to providing students and graduates with high-quality opportunities that enable them to keep pace with the rapidly evolving media and creative industries while preparing them to compete and excel in both the local and regional labor markets.
