On Thursday, March 31st, 2016, Her Royal Highness, Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation visited An-Najah National University and An-Najah National University Hospital.


The Princess was received by Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah and his vice presidents and assistants; Prof. Saleem Haj Yahya, Executive Director of An-Najah Hospital and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Mr. Akram Rujoub, the Governor of Nablus.

In the reception ceremony, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the Princess and commended her family’s generosity and support to build the blood test laboratory at the hospital. He also stressed the importance of mutual cooperation between Jordan and Palestine in general and the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and An-Najah in specific.

Prof. Haj Yahya welcomed Princess Mired and thanked her for inaugurating the Pediatric hematology and oncology Unit at the hospital. He also commended the foundation’s role in supporting the hospital and wished for the continuity of mutual cooperation between the foundation and the hospital.

He further expressed his pride in the hospital’s staff members for achieving so much in a couple of years and pointed out that the hospital is one of the most prominent and advanced hospital on the national level.

Mr. Rujoub welcomed Her Royal Highness on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas and expressed his delight in this visit as it embodies the rooting relationship between Jordan and Palestine.

In her Turn, Princess Mired stated that she is pleased to inaugurate the unit as it saves children’s lives and as she is a mother of a child recovered from cancer.

She also stated that the Hussein Foundation is willing to offer the needed help to support the unit and the hospital in general pointing out that investment in education and serving humanity are key factor in making any achievement.

In addition to that, she talked about the difficult situations that encountered the foundation and mentioned that the foundation established a fund to Palestinians to cover treatment expenses for those who cannot afford. She mentioned that from 2003-2015, the fund covered expenses of 330 Palestinians with a cost of 11.9 million$.

Her Royal Highness then visited the Old Campus as Prof. Natsheh welcomed her again and introduced her to the university’s achievements, students, campuses and academic programmes. He also thanked King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein and the royal family in Jordan for their consistent support to the Palestinian People.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Dr. Khaled Qadri, Director General at the Ministry of Health Directorate in Nablus Governorate; Dr. Abdulraheem Hanbali, Member of the Board of Trustees at the Hospital and Engineers Adly Ya'eesh and Ibrahim Musleh.

Princess Mired was also given a tour to the New Campus and the Ola City in Nablus.

The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), founded in 1997, undertakes various fundraising activities to support and maintain the mission of the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) as a comprehensive cancer center of excellence. It is also a free-standing, independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization established by a royal decree to combat cancer in Jordan and the Middle East region.
