Energy and the Community
An-Najah National University, through its Energy, Environment, and Climate Change Research Unit, leads community efforts to promote energy efficiency, clean energy awareness, and access to sustainable power. Working with municipalities, schools, civil society, and industry, the University delivers workshops, awareness campaigns, and training programs that help individuals and institutions adopt energy-saving behaviors and renewable technologies.
In partnership with the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, local councils, and international partners, An-Najah implements community-based clean energy and electrification projects, including solar PV systems, energy audits, and technical consultations—particularly in remote areas lacking reliable electricity. These initiatives bring clean power to underserved communities and improve local livelihoods.
By combining academic expertise with active community engagement, the University ensures that the benefits of affordable, reliable, and clean energy extend far beyond its campus—advancing regional sustainability, rural development, and a low-carbon future.
