Supporting Low-Carbon Startups and Green Innovation

An-Najah National University (ANNU) plays a leading role in empowering young innovators and entrepreneurs to create solutions that advance the transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable economy. Through its Innovation Park (InnoPark), the University provides a dynamic ecosystem where ideas in renewable energy, climate technology, sustainable agriculture, and green digital transformation can evolve into successful startups that support Affordable and Clean Energy.

InnoPark: The Hub for Sustainable Entrepreneurship

Established to bridge the gap between academia, research, and the private sector, An-Najah Innovation Park (InnoPark) serves as a multidisciplinary platform that nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship.
InnoPark offers:

  • Startup incubation and acceleration programs focusing on technology, sustainability, and digital transformation.

  • Access to laboratories, prototyping facilities, and coworking spaces for product development.

  • Mentorship and business advisory services led by experts from academia and industry.

  • Entrepreneurship training programs and hackathons to promote creative and sustainable problem-solving.

Supporting Low-Carbon and Clean-Tech Startups

ANNU fosters innovation that directly contributes to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate action.
Through InnoPark, several initiatives focus on low-carbon and clean-tech entrepreneurship, including:

  • Renewable energy startups working on solar energy optimization, energy storage, and micro-grid solutions.

  • Green manufacturing and sustainable materials projects, such as recycling and circular economy ventures.

  • Environmental technology startups addressing waste reduction, water efficiency, and pollution monitoring.

  • Digital and AI-driven startups supporting energy management, smart city applications, and green data analytics.

These initiatives reflect ANNU’s belief that innovation is key to building a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future for Palestine and beyond.

Partnerships and Collaboration for Green Growth

To strengthen its entrepreneurial ecosystem, ANNU has formed strategic partnerships with national and international organizations, including:

  • Flow Accelerator, enhancing innovation, incubation, and investment opportunities for Palestinian startups.

  • Fortinet and Najah.AI, providing free digital skills and cybersecurity training for emerging entrepreneurs.

  • Regional universities and development agencies, working to expand access to renewable energy and environmental technologies.

Such collaborations ensure that startups receive not only technical and business support but also exposure to funding opportunities, markets, and sustainable business models.

Impact Highlights (2020–2025)

  • Over 40 startups incubated through InnoPark programs, including ventures in energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, and environmental technology.

  • 100+ students and researchers trained in entrepreneurship and innovation for sustainable development.

  • Multiple MoUs and partnerships signed to enhance climate-oriented innovation capacity.

  • Excess renewable electricity generated by ANNU’s solar systems is shared with rural communities, demonstrating the university’s commitment to community-level energy access.

Future Directions: Green Innovation Track

In 2025, ANNU is launching a dedicated Green Innovation Track within InnoPark to focus exclusively on low-carbon, circular economy, and clean-tech ventures.
This initiative will:

  • Provide seed funding and mentorship for startups tackling climate challenges.

  • Offer specialized workshops in carbon management, renewable energy systems, and sustainable design.

  • Create industry-academia collaborations for pilot projects in green infrastructure and energy optimization.

Align with ANNU’s broader Net-Zero Carbon 2028 target and the University’s sustainability roadmap.
