Zajel Organizes a Study Visit for a Delegation from Eastern Mennonite Seminary University

On the 13th of February 2010, the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department at An Najah organized a study visit for a student delegation from the American University of Eastern Mennonite Seminary. The delegation included thirty students and their instructor, Professor Linford Stutzman. During the visit, a number of study meetings were organized between the American and the Palestinian students enrolled in the Toastmaster Program who introduced the guests to the University and its faculties. Also in the meetings, a number of discussions were raised about common interest issues such as the social and economical conditions in which the Palestinians live, their academic life, and the importance of cultural exchange between local and international students. Students also stressed the importance of this exchange and its role in reinforcing dialogue and mutual understanding.
Mr. Ala Abu Dheer, Active Director of the Public Relations Department at An Najah, presented a summary of the University's faculties, features and programs. He also familiarized the delegation with the youth exchange programs planned for next summer, as well as the activities that reinforce dialogue between cultures like video conferences, international camps, study visits, exhibitions and others.
Furthermore, a visit to the old city of Nablus was organized in which the delegation was introduced to the city's cultural and architectural landmarks. The guests also visited Balata refugee camp as well as other sites in Nablus.
