A workshop was hosted at the university on the strategic plans to develop Nablus. The workshop came as an initiative from the federation of Palestinian businessmen in Nablus; the goal is to draw future plans to develop and improve the current situation in the city. On the agenda were different topics that needed to be discussed by a number of personalities from both the public and private sectors as well as governmental and foreign institutions.
The workshop was also attended by Dr. Muhammad Eshtayeh, Minister of Housing; Dr. Hasan Al-Araj, of the Ministry of local Government Affairs; Dr. Anan Al-Masri of the Ministry of Health; Mr. Maher Al-Masri, the Ex-Minister of Economics; Mr. Ghassan Al-Sheka, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO); Dr. Muawiya, Al-Masri Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council and others.
Prof. Samir Abu Eishe, Vice President for Planning and Developmental Affairs, opened the workshop with a speech welcoming the guests. He stressed the role of the university in such activities, the importance of taking Nablus back to its position in the Palestinian map and to develop its political and economical circumstances - which requires good planning and a lot of hard work from the different institutions.
Mr. Salah Al-Masri, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, gave a speech and emphasized that now it’s the time for all of Nablus’ sons to participate in this initiative, aiming to revive Nablus. He also asserted that this workshop and similar ones are constantly on the university agenda, aiming to serve the community.
