Workshop on the Right to Provide Qualitative Education to Disadvantaged Palestinian Children
Lecturer Muna Shaath from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at An-Najah University participated on behalf of the University in a workshop conducted by the Ministry of Education in Ramallah on the 23 of April 2012.
The workshop was part of the effort the Ministry of Education is pursuing in locating disadvantaged children in Palestine due to economic, social or political circumstances and providing them with individual, fair and safe access to education.
The workshop consisted of work groups where each group worked on a topic discussing various ways of early diagnoses of these children, catering for their needs and providing them with qualitative education through intensive structured programs that meet their special needs.
On the other hand, the role of schools in supporting these children by using innovative teaching methods and assessments was presented .The role of universities in developing and designing such programs and encouraging their students in participating in voluntary activities with those children in their areas was explored and stressed.
