Workshop on: Managing University-Industry Cooperation
In cooperation with the Trans-European Mobility Scheme for University Studies, TEMPUS, the Energy Research Centre, ERC, Hebron University, Alicante University in Spain and Saarland University in Germany, a workshop was organized on the empowerment of cooperation between University and the industrial sector in fields of research and technology.
Prof. Maher Natsheh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said that the University worked hard to develop and improve its research capabilities in technology and sciences. He said it was the aim of An-Najah to become a major research center in science and technology in Palestine.
The science masters program has been internationally accredited to enhance applied research. This is inspite of the difficult conditions that exist due to the Israeli occupation. To illustrate the Universities ability to excel in times of adversity, An-Najah received an award for its efforts in Chemistry and Physics from the Islamic Bank in 2004. The University does its best to improve its relationship with the industrial sector in order to share technology and afford the best opportunities for its graduates.
The ERC aims to receive benefit from European experience in the field of technology and industry. Presentations focused on the following important topics:
- Managing university-industry cooperation.
- Including organizational and financial models; the University of Alicante Model
- Technology transfer and European experience.
- Handling International Public Relations issues of university research and innovation.
- University-industry cooperation to locate training and educational needs in employment.

- Including organizational and financial models, the Saarbruecken University Model.
- Entrepreneurship support systems.
- Complete offer for start-ups.
- Experiences of cooperation in technology transfer and entrepreneurship and the role of the university employment services.
