An Najah National University celebrated the opening of its Female Student Exhibition as part of Women's Week at the Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition Hall on Wednesday, March 19th.  Ms Julie Jolles and Dana Rassas of the US Consulate in Jerusalem were received by Dr Saed Al Koni, Vice President of Administrative Affairs, and Dr Mohammed Al Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs in a small gathering before the event. Dr Saed and Dr Mohammed expressed their appreciation for the strong relationship An Najah has with the U.S. and how such cultural events like this highlight and strengthen their shared interests and goals.

An Najah’s Women’s Week is a week of activities created in collaboration between the University’s American Corner Nablus, Media Center, Competency Unit, and Public Relationship Department in recognition of the achievements and role women have played in Palestine society.   The Women’s Week has incorporated an array of activities to involve the local community and students such as a small bizarre of local women's handmade crafts and jewelry, a women's roundtable focusing on personal academic and professional achievements at An Najah, and a gender workshop through the Women's Studies Program.

The exhibition celebrated the high caliber of An Najah's academic departments and served as a platform to recognize the achievements of top female students.  The projects were selected by the deans and heads of a number of departments at An Najah including Nursing, IT, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Media, Fine Arts, and community based learning projects through the Center for Excellence. Each project was attended by the students who created them and they presented their project in detail, describing the inspiration and work to the guests in attendance.

Notes:

Notable guests in attendance on behalf of An Najah included Dean of Fine Arts, Dr Ghawi Ghawi, the Dean of Engineering, Dr Khaled Sakhili, the Dean of Law, Dr Akram Douad, Dean of Educational Sciences, Dr Alia Assali, and the Head of Nursing, Dr Aidah Alkaissi.   Guests from local women societies including the Working Women’s society were also in attendance.
