American Media, Between Neutrality and Objectiveness, was the title of the workshop presented by Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh, an American – Palestinian Professor who visited the University and gave a lecture to students and academics about the image of Arabs and Palestinians in the American media as well as the methods that should be used to create better communication with the American people.
Prof. Qumsiyeh highlighted the importance of the Active media efforts in the field of the internet, websites and YouTube. He stated that interaction between Palestinian and American students will help narrow the gap between both perspectives. He also spoke about the importance of addressing the personal stories of the people that have been affected by the Israeli occupation. He feels this will help bridge the cultural gap and create an atmosphere of better understanding of each other’s cultures, history and politics.
