The first health and medical sciences conference was opened at An-Najah, the conference which lasted for two days gathered in its first session Dr. Anan Al-Masri, Deputy of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, University President, Engineer Muneeb Al-Masri, Chairman of Palestine Development and Investment Ltd. (PADICO), Prof. Suleiman Khalil, Head of the preparing committee of the conference, and a number of doctors, nurses and people working in the mentioned field.
In the opening session, Mr. Saed Abu Hijleh, Director of the Public Relations Department, gave a speech in which he welcomed the presence and assured the importance of university involvement in the different vital fields of life and thanked people who worked to achieve this conference. the presence then took a moment of silence in honor of the Palestinian martyrs.
Prof. Hamdallah gave a speech in which he assured the university belief in the importance of its role in building and serving the local Palestinian and Arab community through preparing qualified individuals in the fields of medicine and health and that’s why the university administration worked hard to establish the faculties of pharmacy, medicine, nursing and optometry in addition to the medical analysis department and post-graduate program of public health and clinical pharmacy in order to accumulate the society with its need of experts and researchers.
The conference in its first session discussed the following topics: managing casualties during emergencies and disasters, the psychological and nerves diseases, new methods in surgeries, new methods in dealing with eye-patients, some new percussions to avoid virus diseases, the relation between vitamin C and the Cancer, the growing number of people getting cancer in the north of the west bank, the artificial insemination and other topics.
In the end of the session, an evaluation of the scientific status of Nablus hospitals, and Beit-Jala Medications company exhibited some of its products.
