Under the auspices of the British Consulate General, Thomson Foundation UK Conducts Two Workshops at An-Najah
29 October 2009
The International and Strategic Affairs Office of An-Najah National University in cooperation with the British Consulate General have coordinated two workshops to train students from the Journalism Department of An-Najah University. From October 25th to October 28th, Mr. David Quinn and Mr. Paul Eedle had been training An-Najah National University Journalism students in two separate programs, one for television and one for print media. This intensive training course was generously sponsored by the Thomson Foundation and the British Consulate General.
The training culminated in the students receiving certificates at the graduation ceremony on Thursday afternoon. An-Najah University President Prof. Rami Hamdallah was the first to congratulate the graduates, and thanked everyone for attending the ceremony. Then British Consul General Mr. Richard Makepeace thanked the trainers for the hours and effort they put into this training and hoped to see many of the graduates win in the British sponsored Young Journalists Competition. Mr. David Quinn spoke on behalf of the Thomson Foundation and graciously thanked An-Najah for the support they received during this seminar. This was followed by a speech by the Director of the Journalism Department, Dr. Abdel Jawad and by one of the student participants in the seminar.
The certificates were distributed by British Consul General Mr. Makepeace, University President Prof. Hamdallah, as well as Mr. Quinn, and Dr. Abdel Jawad. Photos and a light reception followed.
