On July 12^th, Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs at An-Najah University, received in the University President’s office in the Old Campus His Excellency, Mr. Ihor Turchyn Ambassador of Ukraine to the Palestinian National Authority, accompanied by Dr. Areej Odeh, Chair of Ukraine Universities’ and Institutes’ Graduates Society, as well as her Vice-Chair of the Society, Engineer Muhammad Hamarsheh, and Mr. Salam Fraitekh, a legal advisor in Nablus Governorate.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Abu Eid welcomed the Ambassador to An-Najah and valued his visit to the University. After that, a short documentary was displayed which described the different stages of development at An-Najah and familiarized the delegation with the various faculties, scientific centers and academic programs that the University has.

Moreover, Prof. Abu Eid spoke to the guests about the nature of the educational system in Palestine and described the challenges that higher education in the country faces especially those encountered by An-Najah. He also explained the ways that the University follows in order to overcome these challenges including sending top students from An-Najah to pursue their higher study at the world’s top universities, as well as building cooperation and partnership between An-Najah and these universities.

Mr. Turchyn expressed his pleasure to visit An-Najah and said the delegation was admired by the level of scientific and architectural development that the University has achieved over the years and expressed the willingness of Ukrainian universities to establish joint cooperation relationships with An-Najah in the different fields.
