The University Receives Grants from Norwegian People Aid
The University received financial support to cover the tuition fees of 140 students. The funding came from the Norwegian People Aid to the Palestinian People through the Abna` Al-Balad Association in Nablus City. The grant of $38,500 arrived at the registration time of the new semester when students start applying for loans to cover their academic financial costs.
Mr Raed Tuqan, Director of the Abna` Al-Balad Association thanked the Norwegian people represented by Dordern Peterson, for the support offered to the Palestinian students. In his offer of thanks he referred to the importance of education to Palestinians who usually have no other source of income. He said that the investment in human resources is especially important to Palestinians who are encountering hardships in their daily life as a result of the Israeli occupation. He also called upon the international community to do its utmost to support education in Palestine. Dr. Ali Habayeb, Assistant of the Vice President for the Academic Affairs, representing the University President, also thanked the Norwegian People for their support.
