The University President Receives the US Consul General in Jerusalem
On July 13th 2010, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamallah, received in his office Mr. Daniel Rubinstein, Consul General of the US Consulate General in Jerusalem. Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs and President Assistant for International and Strategic Affairs, also attended the meeting.<o:p></o:p>

In the meeting, the President welcomed the Consul and valued his visit to the University and the efforts that the Consulate General in Jerusalem has been exerting over the last years in support of the University. He also described to him the different developments that the University has achieved and the many new facilities that it established. <o:p></o:p>

He further familiarized him with the specializations and faculties that the University contains as well as the various Bachelor, Master and PhD programs that are offered to the students. Concerning cooperation between the University and the Consulate, Prof. Hamdallah emphasized that this cooperation will continue, especially in the academic field. This cooperation will open the door for the University students to get scholarships, training courses and a variety of programs that would help them enhance their academic performance.<o:p></o:p>

On his part, Mr. Rubinstein expressed the Consulate's commitment towards providing all kinds of support and assistance to the University and encourage cooperation between Palestinian and American students. He also hoped that American studies will become a more common field of study in Palestine and to have specialized faculties and centers that would support such education. Supporting academic exchange between the United States and Palestine shall help achieve better understanding and have mutual benefit of each other's experience and knowledge.<o:p></o:p>
