The University President Receives a Student Delegation from China
On January 26th, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, received a Chinese student delegation from a number of Chinese universities that represented seven different provinces in China. The visit aimed to familiarize Chinese students with the situations on ground in Palestine and the living conditions that the Palestinians experience.

The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Zakariya Abu Dabbouseh from the Embassy of Palestine in Beijing, as well as a delegation from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guests and emphasized that such student visits and delegations really reinforce the distinguished relationships between the Chinese and the Palestinian youth. He also gave a summary about the University, its academic programs (Bachelor as well as Master Degrees programs), and the faculties it contains. He explained that the University offers a Bachelor Degree in 70 different majors, a Master Degree in 40, and one PhD Degree in Chemistry.
The President further said that the University holds unique relationships with many international universities and hoped that more relationships would be established with other Chinese universities. He also familiarized the delegation with the rank that the University has obtained on July 19th 2010 according to the Webometrics (The Ranking Web of World Universities) which ranked it first in Palestine, fifth in the Arab world and number 1160 internationally from among 20,000 universities around the world.
The President valued the great historical positions that the Chinese government and people had through which they showed great support and solidarity with the Palestinians and their right to establish an independent state.
On their part, the visiting students thanked Prof. Hamdallah for his hospitality and for familiarizing them with the University and its different facilities and specializations. They also said they valued the Palestinian‘s strong will and determination that enabled them to make unique achievements on the academic level despite the difficult situations on ground. Furthermore, they hoped that this visit would pave the way for more similar visits in the future.
The delegation then visited the New Campus and attended a lecture about the city of Nablus after which they took a tour around the different places in the city.
