July 19th 2010. The University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, inaugurated an exhibition for SATCO Company for Electric Contracting in Nablus. SATCO was founded in 1992 and it is a contracting company for electricity projects which performs in all regions in the West Bank. It contains a special factory in which electricity towers are manufactured.

The exhibition was organized at the Faculty of Engineering by the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) at the Faculty. Attendees were Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Maher Khammash, Head of the Electrical and Communication Engineering Departments, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC in addition to Engineer Ayman Bani Fadel, General Manger of SATCO, and a number of engineers and workers at the Company.

During his visit to the exhibition, Prof. Hamdallah expressed his admiration by the quality of products that SATCO produces, especially electricity towers which gave it a competitive advantage over Israeli industry. He also mentioned that the University is ready to support national Palestinian products and stressed the University's commitment towards producing competent and qualified engineers that would play their role in serving the society.

Dr. Dmaidi said that the Faculty of Engineering will continue to receive and host local companies and institutions and help them promote their products and services among students. This interaction between the University and the society, represented by its companies, encourages students to work at those companies after graduation. It is for this purpose that the Faculty has established the Engineering Communication Center in order to foster joint relationships and cooperation between the University and the different engineering and industrial sectors in the country.

Engineer Dwaikat mentioned that the exhibition comes as part of a series of events that the Faculty intends to host. It is a program that the ECC has planned for according to which the Faculty will manage to host a company, factory or an engineering office every week to display their products and services and familiarize the students with their work and missions. Such strategy will ensure that students are able to link their theoretical knowledge to practical experience and field work.

Dr. Khammash emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering works on bridging the gap between the theoretical knowledge of its students and the practical side of their study. This will contribute to the reinforcement of graduates' competence and competitiveness and allow them to perform properly in the work field.
