Between March 26th and 28th, An-Najah University, represented by Professor Mohammed Hafez Al-Shraideh, from the Faculty of Islamic Law, participated in the International Seminar on Modern Trends in Sirah Writing which was organized under the joint auspices of the National Sirah Study Center, Islamic Research Institute and Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The seminar focused on attempts to critically survey the major studies on Sirah along with their theoretical underpinnings during the modern period. It also sought to make an effort to undertake a holistic evaluation of this period and to explore new vistas for future studies on Sirah through carefully analyzing the different trends, methodologies and contents of these writings. Although the discussion was held in Arabic, English and Urdu, attempts were made to include the various dimensions of Sirah writing in other important languages including Turkish, Persian, Bengali, Malawi, Indonesian, French, Italian and Spanish.

Professor Shraideh, being the only participants from Palestine, presented a scientific research titled “Contemporary Approaches of Scholars and Researchers in the Study of Sirah”. He also gave a lecture to the students of the International Islamic University.

Professor Shraideh also met with a number of participants and familiarized them with An-Najah’s local, regional and international efforts it exerts in the various fields. He also joined a number of international societies that participated in the seminar and agreed to work with several participants on discussing PhD dissertations in Islamic sciences at well-known Islamic universities. At the end of the seminar, Professor Shraideh was granted a certificate of appreciation for his participation in this event by the seminar’s preparatory committee.

Worth mentioning here is the fact that Professor Shraideh has participated in a number of international scientific conferences inside and outside Palestine.
