On April 6th 2010, a delegation from the University headed by Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Ayman Al-Nimer, Director of the University's Radio Station participated in the study day that was organized by Tetouan Municipality and the Moroccan Association for the Support of the Palestinian Struggle. The study day was titled the "The Palestinian-Moroccan Relationships, Past and Future" and was held in Tetouan city in northern Morocco.
Prof. Abu Eid thanked the Moroccan institutions for their deep concern in the Palestinian cause which indicates the intimate and strong relationships between people in the Arab world despite the difficult situations on the ground. He also presented a summary of the University's history and continuous progress since its establishment, as well as the role it constantly plays in educating and supporting the Palestinian students.
A number of participants who represented Moroccan organizations and institutions spoke about the role that their organizations play in support of the Palestinian people and their cause. There are many Moroccan associations that have dedicated themselves to the support of Palestine in many ways. Some dedicated their financial resources to support Jerusalem and other cities, while others work on supporting the Palestinians struggle in the face of the Israeli occupation politically and economically.
Dr. Ahmed Subuh, Palestine Ambassador to Morocco, said that it is important to support the Palestinian people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation, especially in Jerusalem. Others spoke about the significance of the Palestinian-Moroccan relationships and the history of the Moroccan support of the Palestinian cause. A documentary film was also presented at the event that depicted the University's history and development since its establishment.
