The University participated in Tunisia at Arab Network Workshop to Reduce Natural Disasters’ Loss
Engineer Hatem Wahesh from Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center at An-Najah National University, participated at Arab Network Workshop to Reduce Natural Disasters’ Loss which was held at Tunisia and attended by a number of experts from the Arab countries; a Palestinian paper, prepared by Dr. Jalal Dabbik, director of the centre and vice chairman of the national committee of the disaster risk reduction, had been presented. The paper’s title is “Towards Building a Palestinian Strategy to Reduce the Disasters Risks’. The paper focused on the most important achievements of the centre and the governmental and non-governmental Palestinian institutions related to the field of Palestinian community ability-building to face the disasters.
According to the workshop events the Engineer Al-Wahesh participated in the Arab Network Committee, and in modifying the formulation of internal networking related to reducing the disasters’ risks.
At the end of the workshop, a committee from ALECSO– Science and Scientific Research Department, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine and Egypt, had been formed to formulate recommendations which will be submitted via the Arab Organization for Education, Science andCulture to the League of Arab States.
The Palestinian participation had a great contribution at a number of recommendations to set executive mechanisms on the three levels: local, national and international.
