The University Organizes a Solidarity Stand with Japan
On March 23rd, under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, and in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, the Public Relations Department at the University organized a solidarity stand with Japan after the earthquakes and the tsunami that struck the country leaving thousands of them dead, injured and homeless.
The meeting was attended by many academics, administrators and students at the University in addition to students from the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, An-Najah University Branch. In the meeting, Dr. Amjad Izz El-Dein from the Faculty of Science expressed his solidarity with the Japanese people with whom he spent several years during his study in Japan. He also presented a full description of the experience he was able to acquire during his four years of study there.
Nisreen Abu Alia, a student from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University, spoke about her graduation project which was inspired by the Japanese culture and civilization.
After that, Dr. Waleed Basha gave a presentation through which he spoke about the various cultural, social and traditional aspects of the Japanese life. He also described his personal experience with the Japanese culture during the six years he spent in Japan. Moreover, he described the huge scale of damage that resulted from the earthquake and the tsunami.
At the end of the meeting, the participants in the solidarity stand hoped that the Japanese would make it through this crisis and to continue to be one of the world’s leading countries culturally, economically and politically that supports global peace.
