The University Hosts "Leadership in Voluntary Work and Supporting Persons with Disability in the Palestinian Community" Conference

An Najah University hosted on Monday the conference titled "Leadership in Voluntary Work and Supporting Persons with Disability in the Palestinian Society" at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the New Campus which was organized by El-Lid Charitable Society.

Attended the conference, on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, was Nablus Governor, Dr. Jibril Al-Bakri, Lawyer Gassan Al-Shakaa, University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, Kholud Al-Masri, Director of the Social Affairs Directorate, Nizar Bisilat, Director of the General Union of Disabled Persons, as well as Dr. Walid Al-Salhi, Chairman of El-Lid Charitable Society.
Dr. Al-Bakri said that this conference comes in celebration of the International Day of Disabled Persons and the International Volunteer Day which clearly shows that institutions of civil society are concerned with this group of people. He also emphasized the importance of voluntary work in this field. Prof. Hamdallah delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of such conferences, and the role that An Najah University plays in serving people with disability in the Palestinian society. He also explained that the University has established a number of facilities such as an office that cares for the people with special needs, and a special computer laboratory for the persons with visual disability. Moreover, the University also works on supporting people with disability, tries to integrate them in society and offers several services on various levels.
Other participants also spoke about the rights of the people with disability and the services that should be provided to this group of people, and called for more cooperation and coordination between the concerned bodies in order to help them find a place for them in the society. Equally emphasized was the idea of volunteering through which many people can participate in providing persons with disability with the services they need.
