On Monday, April 19th 2010, a delegation from the Faculty of Journalism at Saint-Petersburg State University in Russia visited the University. The visit was organized in coordination with the International Relations Commission in Palestine.In attendance was Dr. Arij Odeh from the International Relations Commission, as well as Mr. Salam Fraitekh and Lina Abdel Hadi. Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs received the delegation and introduced a summary of An-Najah, its faculties and specializations. He mentioned that the University holds more than 20,000 students who major in different fields. Regarding its academic programs, Prof. Abu Eid explained that An-Najah offers Bachelor degrees in 67 different majors, Masters in 38 different fields and the option to take a PhD in Chemistry. He further spoke about the scientific centers at An-Najah that play a major role in serving the society.
Concerning international relations, Prof. Abu Eid emphasized that An-Najah has close relationships with other universities across the world which aim to support academic exchange. He also hoped that the University would be able to establish cooperation agreements with Russian universities in the future.

After that, he moved on to talk about the Department of Journalism at An-Najah and the methodology used to teach students. In this respect, Prof. Abu Eid mentioned that the University provides those students with different services including training programs, as well as media production and broadcasting labs that enable students to apply what they have learnt in class.
On their part, members of the Russian delegation presented a similar description of Saint-Petersburg State University. Saint-Petersburg University is situated north-west to the city of Saint Petersburg in Russia. The university, which is ranked first in Russia, was established 40 years ago and consists of more than 8 different faculties, including the Faculty of Journalism which is the latest addition.
Dr. Arij Odeh said that the visit aimed to familiarize Russian students with the Palestinian culture and tradition, the educational system in Palestine and the difficult conditions that the Palestinian people experience because of the Israeli occupation.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the Department of Journalism at An-Najah where the students were introduced to the labs and the different facilities that the Department contains.
