The University holds a Video Conference with Al-Aqsa University

On March 4th 2010, the University organized a scientific meeting via video conference with Al-Aqsa University in Gaza about Astrophysics and universe evolution theories. The conference was organized by the students committee for astronomy at the University in conjunction with Dr. Suleiman Baraka, Professor of Astrophysics at Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. Dr. Baraka worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) last year in the field of astronomy and is considered as one of the leading Palestinian figures in this field regionally.
Among the participants was Dr. Kamal Rashid, coordinator of the astronomical committee at the University, Dr. Sulaiman Khalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and a number of students and instructors.
During the lecture, Dr. Baraka spoke about theories which have been put forward to try to explain how the universe was created using ideas such as the Big Bang theory and the creation and evolution of galaxies and celestial objects. He also gave a number of presentations that simulated the evolution of the solar system since its creation until now.
