The University Holds a Literary Meeting with Dr. Fayha Abdel Hadi

On March 3rd 2010, the Palestinian Women's Research and Documentation Center, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Community Service Center at An-Najah University organized a literary meeting. Dr. Fayha Abdel Hadi, author of the book, Dr. Zahira Kamal, Director of the Palestinian Women's Research and Documentation Center as well as researchers in the field of feminine movement in Palestine and interested students attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Dr. Abdel Hadi spoke about her book "The Political Contribution of the Palestinian Woman between the 1950s and mid 1960s", the chapters it contains, and the scientific approach that was used to collect information from the women who were interviewed while preparing the book. She also discussed the feminine perspective of oral history as well as work mechanisms and field follow-up techniques that were used in the making of the book.
The author further highlighted the issues that she came across while writing her book such as the social and political role of Palestinian women, their role in creative writing, art, discourse, writing books, medical work and their political struggle since 1948.
At the end of the meeting, discussions were raised in which Ms. Faten Abu Zarour, from the Community Service Center, said that the meeting shows the University's concern and efforts to hold events that shed light on important issues in the history of the Palestinian people. Dr. Abdel Hadi's is a valuable source of Palestine's history, especially the feminine movement back in 1950s and mid 1960s.
